Gap Inc has a new chief sustainability officer

‘Deep global experience’: Gap Inc appoints Jeffrey Hogue as chief sustainability officer

Former Levi’s sustainability boss Jeffrey Hogue has been appointed by fellow fashion powerhouse Gap Inc as its new chief sustainability officer.

The news has not officially been announced by Gap, but was unveiled by chief supply chain & transformation officer Sally Gilligan, via LinkedIn.

Hogue has spent the last six years as chief sustainability officer of Levi’s, and recently has spearheaded some groundbreaking developments in the denim giant’s supply chain. In the last nine months, Levi’s announced a new 2030 water strategy and built the infrastructure to help its suppliers in India access renewable energy more easily.

Talking in September about his work in India with Levi’s and in partnership with Schneider Electric, Hogue said: “We are committed to incentivising renewable energy in our supply chain and know our path to our near-term supply chain emissions reduction target is through proven, scalable solutions that fit each supplier.”

Hogue’s retail CV before Levi’s includes senior roles at McDonald’s and C&A.

Gilligan posted on LinkedIn: “Thrilled to welcome Jeffrey Hogue to Gap Inc as our new chief sustainability officer.

“As we continue our work to bridge gaps and create a better world, Jeff will lead our efforts across climate and equity, helping advance meaningful impact for our business, our communities, and the people we serve. He will also serve on the Gap Foundation Board, supporting our commitment to creating opportunities and strengthening communities around the world.”

She added: “Jeff brings deep global experience from organisations including Levi Strauss & Co., C&A, and McDonald’s, along with a proven track record of advancing sustainability through business leadership, partnership, and innovation.”

In April, tech company Inspectorio announced it had started working with Gap Inc to help drive greater supply chain transparency.
