All-electric delivery: Hived announces $42m Series B funding

Electric-powered delivery company Hived – which counts Nespresso as one of its customers in the UK – has announced Series B funding of $42 million.

The round was led by NordicNinja, with strong participation from Hived’s existing investors including Planet A, Wex Venture Capital, Marunouchi Innovation Partners, Elemental Impact, Yamato Holdings, Future Back Ventures by Bain and Co, and Rocketship VC.

The company’s UK roll-out is now ratcheting up, with plans to grow its engineering and data team, and scale development of what co-founder and CEO Murvah Iqbal calls the business’s “proprietary logistics intelligence platform”, HIVEDmind.

London centric until now, this investment puts Hived on track to scale nationwide – and Iqbal says the plan involves “building our AI-powered, customer-centric and all-electric delivery network”.

The UK has built one of the largest e-commerce markets in the world with “incumbent logistics firms retro-fitting for e-commerce by shifting their legacy systems”, Iqbal blogged this week.

“In contrast, Hived has built its parcel delivery network explicitly for e-commerce, from the ground up. Our HIVEDmind platform uses AI, real-time data, and modern architecture to connect retailers, warehouses, drivers and end customers like never before, through a single, integrated, fully synchronised end-to-end system.”

Hived said it has now delivered more than 6.5 million parcels across Greater London for retailers such as John Lewis, Nespresso, Uniqlo, and Zara, and claimed to have achieved 99% on-time delivery. There are now more than 120 people working for Hived.

“Parcel delivery should feel seamless, not stressful, but most of the industry is still running on systems that were never designed for e-commerce,” said the CEO.

“At Hived, we’ve taken a fresh approach – rethinking everything from first principles, putting technology and experience at the centre, and proving there’s a better way to do this at scale. This raise is a huge step forward in making great delivery the norm, not the exception.”

Tomosaku Sohara, managing partner at NordicNinjav, commented: “Hived is doing what no one else in logistics has managed to do – pair a truly outstanding consumer experience with deep operational control.

“They haven’t just improved delivery, they’ve reimagined it from the ground up, with technology as the foundation, not an afterthought. This means their technology isn’t just modern, it’s built to scale.”

He added: “We believe Hived has the platform, the team, the operational excellence and the momentum to reshape the future of parcel delivery and we’re proud to back them as they expand across the UK.”
