Parla and B Corp Month

B Corp Month: Parla updates website address to reflect expanded range

With B Corp Month in full swing, retailers and brands are upping their messaging about what it takes and what it means to be certified as an organisation that commits to supporting people, planet, and profit in their operations.

And the subscription company Parla has taken the opportunity to change its website address to highlight its growing product range.

What was once a toothpaste tabs brand, identified by its parlatoothpastetabs.com address, has become a more rounded provider of oral care products – and has now updated its online presence to parlaoralcare.com.

As well as toothpaste tabs, which the company says ensures customers can remove plastic from their bathroom routine, Parla now sells toothbrushes, mouthwash tabs, and dental floss.

“This change reflects our expanding product offering beyond just toothpaste tabs – bringing you even more innovations in oral wellness while keeping the same high-quality dentist-designed care you love,” it told customers via email.

Those visiting the old website will automatically be redirected to the new domain.

Founded by dentists Simon Chard, Adarsh Thanki, and Rhona Eskander, Parla’s ethos is to help consumers move away from wasteful plastic tubes and bottles. The toothpaste and mouthwash tablets sold on subscription or in bundles by Parla are supplied in glass jars, while refills arrive in compostable bags.

As well as direct to consumer, the products are sold at Boots, Ocado, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Wholefoods in the UK.

Other B Corp Month activity in the retail space so far has seen Finisterre join other small businesses in the south-west for a beach clean. Members of the team joined Surfers Against Sewage and collected 66.5kg of pollution, “picking up a huge amount of microplastics and broken down fishing gear”, according to the surf gear brand.

Chris Turner, executive director of B Corp UK, which is the body overseeing the better business movement, said in an email last week: “The world in which we operate is evolving.

“From companies backtracking on sustainability in the US to a potential dilution of supply chain reporting requirements in Europe, we are left with questions about the role of business in UK society today. Can a more human and meaningful approach still thrive?”

He added: “There is a growing generation of people who are proving that it can. And with March being B Corp Month, never has this been more apparent than now.”
