Mamas & Papas is taking part in second Hand September again

Second Hand September: Mamas and Papas rolls out pre-loved pushchair service to 6 more stores

Nursery brand Mamas and Papas has introduced its pre-loved pushchair service to six further stores, as Oxfam’s ‘Second Hand September’ gets under way.

Following the launch of the second-hand offering at its outlet store in Huddersfield last year, the retailer has now brought the service to branches in Birmingham, Cardiff, Croydon, Gateshead, Leeds, and Nottingham.

Second-hand pushchairs that have been restored, repaired where necessary and deep cleaned can now be purchased by customers in these stores. During the course of Second Hand September every sale of a pre-loved pushchair will result in 100% of the profit being donated to Oxfam, the retailer said.

Mamas and Papas stated that by recirculating pushchairs, the business can help to reduce the demand for new ones and help limit the impact the organisation and its customers have on the health of the planet.

The retailer promises all pre-loved pushchairs have received what it described as “a full valet and service”, with repairs carried out where necessary and products fitted with new wheels, harness, rain cover, and under basket where required. The second-hand products come with a six-month warranty.

For several years Mamas and Papas has supported Second Hand September, an initiative established in 2019 to encourage people to buy pre-loved items and consider the impact of overconsumption.

In addition to the pushchairs initiative, Mamas and Papas will this year continue its ‘Reduce Re-Use Recycle’ service, which allows consumers to donate unwanted baby and children’s clothing, shoes, accessories and nursery items, so that they can be passed on to someone else and given a new lease of life.

The service is free to use, and people can donate baby and children’s items from any brand – they don’t need to be from Mamas & Papas.

In September, consumers are also set to receive £5 off their same-day shop in store when they donate to the cause.
