Pentland Brands, the British sports, outdoor and lifestyle fashion group behind brands including Speedo and Berghaus, is investing in compliance and traceability technology as it looks to strengthen its responsible sourcing and supply chain practices.
The group is working with AI-powered supply chain platform provider Inspectorio, bringing together responsible sourcing, compliance and traceability activities across its portfolio of brands.
Pentland Brands owns, licenses and manages brands including Speedo, Berghaus, Canterbury of New Zealand, Mitre, Endura and ellesse, with its products sold in more than 190 countries.
‘Significant step forward’: Berghaus is now B Corp certified
It said Inspectorio’s platform will provide a central hub for managing supply chain data and compliance requirements, with implementation across Pentland’s supplier ecosystem already under way.
The technology will be used at both group and individual brand level, with the aim of creating greater visibility across the sourcing process and helping Pentland respond to the increasingly complex sustainability, labour and regulatory requirements being asked of retailers globally.
A key element of the partnership, according to Inspectorio, is the tech company’s ‘Responsible Sourcing & Compliance’ solution, which is designed to streamline ethical audit and compliance workflows while automating the validation of supplier and material data.
Meanwhile, its ‘Traceability & Transparency’ solution will provide product journey data and a connected source of evidence, helping Pentland meet evolving reporting and regulatory requirements.
For Pentland, which previously worked with Segura for supply chain mapping, the investment reflects a continued recognition that responsible business increasingly needs to be backed by data and evidence across its operations.
Richard Mason, sustainability director at Pentland Brands, said: “Operating responsibly has been part of Pentland Brands’ mission for decades, and we want to keep setting a standard in today’s competitive, global market.
“Inspectorio gives our teams and supplier partners the evidence to back our commitment to sustainability across every brand and tier of our supply chain, so responsibility is something we can demonstrate and improve, with flexibility to adapt in the future.”
Abhy Thomas Joseph, chief operating officer at Pentland Brands, added that combining product journey data with responsible sourcing programmes would provide a clearer picture of performance and areas for improvement.
Pentland Brands was present at a dinner hosted and co-organised by Green Retail World on behalf of Inspectorio in September 2025.
