Fashion retailer Lucy & Yak is turning its stores nationwide into dedicated preloved hubs for the entire weekend 23-25 May 2026 – in an effort to promote circularity and second-hand shopping.
The business said that, since 2023, it has kept more than 42,000 of its items in circulation thanks to its preloved scheme – and it is doubling down its efforts to market the power of second-hand as the bank holiday arrives in the next few days.
Customers are encouraged to return their old items from the brand, and once processed will receive a money-off voucher to put towards their next purchase. Damaged pieces are repaired or upcycled by the Re:Yak Studio team in Yorkshire before being sold on in-store.

There is always a preloved offering in Lucy & Yak stores, but the entire store experience is being handed over to the concept at the weekend, in the form of much larger, expanded second-hand sections. The Brighton, Bristol, Cambridge, Canterbury, Chester, Edinburgh, Exeter, London, Manchester, Norwich, Nottingham, Sheffield, Portsmouth and Yorkshire stores are all taking part.
Other aspects of Lucy & Yak’s circularity strategy include its (Im)Perfect sales offering, its own Facebook Marketplace page for buying, selling and swapping, and Re:Yak workshops which are held throughout the year to help people mend and customise garments.
Lydia Coley, managing director at Lucy & Yak, commented: “Lucy & Yak has always been built around community, creativity and doing things a little differently, and preloved brings all of that together.
“We’re incredibly proud of keeping over 42,000 Yaks in circulation. Every second-hand Yak has a story, and this weekend is about helping those pieces find their next home in a fun way.”
Coley recently spoke to Green Retail World, as part of our Seeds of Change interview series. In the interview, Coley addresses recent online criticism of the brand and explains more about the company’s sustainability credentials.
