Barbour offering jacket rental at Glasto 2024

Glasto 2024: Barbour and Oxfam partner for jacket rental scheme

UK fashion retailer Barbour and charity Oxfam are providing a jacket rental scheme to those attending this year’s Glastonbury festival.

The Barbour ‘Re-Loved’ jacket rental initiative will be available to ticket holders attending the annual musical and cultural festival which takes place at Worthy Farm in Somerset from Wednesday 26 June to Sunday 30 June.

It is the first time Barbour has offered a jacket rental service, and it comes as a growing number of retailers are looking to build more circular models of consumption – such as repair, re-commerce, and rental – into their operations.

The Barbour Re-Loved rental service consists of pre-loved jackets that have been upcycled, and they will be sold via Oxfam stores on the festival site with all proceeds going to Oxfam. Attendees will be given the chance to rent a wax jacket for the full weekend at a cost of £45 per jacket – and they have the option to return their wax jackets or purchase it for full price at the end of Glastonbury.

Barbour said every jacket for rent is pre-loved and has been cleaned, repaired, and re-waxed by the Barbour team in South Shields in the England’s north-east. It is an extension of the service already offered by the fashion retailer, allowing its customers to repair their wax jackets to keep them in circulation for longer rather than throwing them away.

According to Barbour, each jacket is unique, with many featuring reused materials and fabrics from past Glastonbury T-shirts and merchandise, to – in the words of the retailer – “add colour and a touch of nostalgia to the inside of the jackets”.
