Online marketplace Wish is bringing a tech trade-in service to Europe.
From March, Wish customers in select European geographies will get the chance to start trading in their old devices, including smartphones, laptops, tablets and smartwatches, in return for cash. The service will launch in the Netherlands before being rolled out to additional countries in due course, according to the US-based marketplace.
The money can go straight into consumers’ pockets, too – it doesn’t have to be spent on future purchases on the Wish website in the manner many retailer trade-in initiatives only provide credit for a follow-up purchase.
The Wish trade-in service has been brought to life in partnership with Remarketed, a refurbished good providers. Remarketed can provide customers with an instant estimated trade-in valuation based on the device’s age and condition, before consumers complete their tech trade-in using a paid-for shipping label.
Once received and verified, the consumer payment will be processed, with a select number of the refurbished devices later put up for sale the on Wish website.

The launch of our trade-in service complements our recently expanded range of refurbished electronics which allows customers to benefit from new technologies at a fraction of the price.”
