US-based grocer Walmart has announced its company-owned and operated EV charging sites are now located at 100 stores across 20 states.
The Walmart Supercenter located at 16218 Jackson Creek Parkway in Monument, Colorado was the location for the landmark installation.
Walmart said its network is “designed around the customer”, with EV charging areas located close to each store, and the experience integrated into the retailer’s app. Most Walmart EV charging locations feature eight to 16 fast-charging stalls, with chargers capable of delivering up to 400 kW of power and with both CCS and NACS connectors offered to drivers.

Shayne Wahlmeier, senior vice president of Walmart Energy, commented: “By expanding EV fast charging at Walmart locations across the country, we’re giving drivers a dependable way to charge while they’re in the store.
“Reaching 100 sites is an important milestone, and our broad footprint positions us to make EV charging more accessible for communities while expanding the ways we serve our customers.”
Adam Happel, general manager at Walmart Retail EV Charging, added that the retailer’s focus “remains on building a network customers can count on every time they charge with us”.
Walmart said it will continue expanding its network. Customers can locate current and upcoming EV charging locations on the Walmart EV Charging website and in the Walmart app.
It also displays open locations via major mapping platforms including Apple Maps, Google Maps, PlugShare, Chargehub, and Chargeway.
Retailers on both sides of the Atlantic are using their space to install EV chargers, as the electric vehicle market continues to expand. UK-based DIY retailer B&Q is currently rolling out chargers to 26 stores as part of its environmental strategy.
