Ikea launches energy services for consumers

‘Moments and transitions’: Ikea launches new energy services offering to consumers

Furniture and homeware retailer Ikea has launched an energy services proposition to help make it easier for consumers to transition to renewables in the home.

In what it says is a move to reduce non-renewable energy consumption in consumers’ homes, Ikea is making an effort to connect its customers with providers who share the retailer’s commitment to quality and sustainability.

As part of the arrangement, Ikea is offering access to products such as Aira heat pumps and Soly solar panels, batteries, and EV chargers.

With Aira, consumers will be able to be able to book an initial free energy assessment and system design ahead of installation and 15-years of aftercare within an all-inclusive plan. And with Soly, they will be able to access renewable technology, advice from solar experts, and installation from certified technicians.

Ashley Hamilton, UK & Ireland customer manager for Ikea, said: “At Ikea, we’ve always been driven by the mission to create a better everyday life for people.”

The energy services represent just one part of a new ‘Life at Home’ offering, which also includes a home move & setup arm and the launch of the Ikea family credit card.

On the new launches, Hamilton added: “It’s a comprehensive collection of services that not only makes life at home more convenient and affordable but also empowers our customers to live more sustainably.

“With solutions that span moving home, energy and financial services, we’re making it easier for our customers to navigate life’s moments and transitions.”

Ikea was represented at last month’s NRF Europe event in Paris, France, as the retail industry descended on the French capital for the inaugural NRF in Europe.

On a panel, Emma Recco from the Ikea France business development division said the company had made progress using the Seine river for e-commerce deliveries. The move is viewed by Ikea as a way to ensure it keeps a check on its environmental impact as its online division grows, and Recco said she hoped other retailers considered river delivery as a way forward as part of sustainability strategy.
