Dress rental on Deliveroo is now up and running after fashion hire business Hurr partnered with the rapid delivery platform in central London.
The aim of the tie-up, which means customers can receive their rental in as little as 20 minutes, is to make it quicker and easier to rent pre-loved fashion. The collaboration has arrived in time for what is traditionally a busy festive party season.
Showcasing the capability of the service, Hurr founder Victoria Prew took to social networking site LinkedIn today to reveal she ordered a rental dress on Deliveroo at 5.27pm yesterday (20 November) and was at the station wearing said dress by 6.01pm.
“We’re thrilled to be launching on-demand fashion rental in partnership with Deliveroo this festive season,” Prew commented.
“You can select and rent your dresses from Hurr to your door faster than ever before, in as little as 20 minutes. Customer experience is at the heart of Hurr and this unique partnership will deliver your last minute or planned party wear looks to your door faster than fast fashion itself.”
Brands such as 16 Arlington, Santa Brands, Self-Portrait, Nadine Merabi, and Rixo are available via the Hurr page on the Deliveroo app.
Prior to the new arrangement, Hurr customers would receive their rentals through its 24-hour overnight delivery service. Fashion rental on Deliveroo means customers can receive goods much quicker alongside a returns label and instructions which are intended to make the process as easy as possible for those using it.
Hurr is viewing the partnership as an opportunity to tap into Deliveroo’s vast, younger customer base across London, and as a way of spreading the word about rental instead of buying new as a more sustainable choice.
Previously a platform for restaurant takeaways, Deliveroo extended into working with supermarkets as a rapid delivery option for them, and is now pursuing retailers of all types as part of its ‘Deliveroo Shopping’ strategy. Companies such as B&Q, Wilko, Ann Summers, and The Perfume Shop are now available on Deliveroo, as are independent brands working with Notonthehighstreet.com.
Eric French, chief operating officer at Deliveroo, said the business is “always looking to break new ground”.
On the Hurr tie-up, he added: “It is an industry first for the rental fashion market, and will make high-end fashion even more accessible and bring a new level of luxury and convenience to our customers.
“This marks our first step into the fashion space, and we’re excited to welcome more partners to Deliveroo Shopping as we continue expanding the variety for our customers.”
Hurr also launched a partnership with Club L London yesterday (20 November), with consumers able to secure rentals from the Manchester-based fashion brand at Selfridges over the course of the next week.
