L'Occitane focused on energy consumption control

‘Energy consumption control’: L’Occitane aims for savings across store estate

L’Occitane said this week that it has been working with data platform provider LoweConex to maintain control over its energy consumption across its real estate.

The bath, body, and skincare brand has partnered with LoweConex to create a more sustainable retail estate by collecting all heating, ventilation and air conditioning data in one platform so it can monitor asset performance and take greater control of its energy consumption.

The ultimate aim of the tie-up is for L’Occitane to achieve significant energy and cost reductions across its store estate, helping contribute to the brand’s wider sustainability ambitions which includes a target to become a net zero organisation by 2050.

L’Occitane senior sustainability manager Rachel Meckes said: “At L’Occitane, we understand the importance of our stores and mitigating their environmental impact.

“In line with our broader sustainability goals, our partnership with LoweConex will enable us to mitigate energy consumption across the estate through end-to-end automation, saving our team time and supporting our environmental initiatives.”

She added that a key aim for L’Occitane, which gained B-Corp accreditation in 2023 is to have “one of the most environmentally conscious store estates on the high street”. The company also works with Ecologi to offset carbon emissions associated with all its UK and Ireland online orders and returns.

The LoweConex partnership will enable further carbon reduction on an estate-wide scale, according to L’Occitane.

Jessica Caldwell, head of customer success at LoweConex, remarked: “The team at LoweConex are excited about this latest partnership and looks forward to replicating the estate control, energy and carbon reduction success we’ve had across the retail industry with the team at L’Occitane.”

Changes to energy consumption and general renewable energy/power strategy are key focus areas for UK retailers right now, with both Tesco and Sainsbury’s announcing significant power purchase agreement deals in the past week.
