Anthropologie has teamed up with Reskinned to run a takeback scheme – covering clothing, shoes, and accessories.
The fashion, home, jewellery and gift retailer joins Dune, Finisterre, Fat Face, River Island and several other retailers offering a takeback scheme in partnership with Reskinned. The idea of such schemes is to help shoppers keep their items in use after they no longer need them, and prevent them from ending up in landfill or incineration.
Announcing the tie-up on LinkedIn, Reskinned said: “We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to launch our latest takeback scheme with Anthropologie.
“Finally, we’re able to share the news and we couldn’t be happier. More than just a brand, Anthropologie is a lifestyle destination with a one-of-a-kind assortment that celebrates uniqueness.”
Consumers using the takeback scheme are requested to register the goods online, re-use a delivery box or a fashion delivery bag they already have to parcel up the item, and send it to Reskinned, where they will be put up for resale.
Reflecting on the Reskinned service, Anthropologie said: “They’ll help extend the life of the items you no longer wear by reselling, repurposing or recycling them.
“Plus, as a thank-you, you’ll receive [up to] £30 towards a brand-spanking new item. Doing your bit for the planet never looked so good.”
Reskinned verifies the trade-in when it arrives at their facilities, and if there are no problems they send the customer the agreed discount, which can be redeemed on Anthropologie’s website.
You can read more about Reskinned in Green Retail World’s ‘Greener Retailing Champions’ feature which covers the resale platform CEO Matt Hanrahan’s session at last year’s IRX conference in Birmingham.
At the conference, Hanrahan talked up one of its early partners, Finisterre, as “probably the most hard-wired sustainable clothing brand” in the UK. He also said Reskinned would not work with retailers built on trading models related to overconsumption.
