Beauty and personal care brand Sky Organics has announced a new chief sustainability offer – and it is the company’s co-founder, Dean Neiger.
The business, which states its mission as providing sustainable beauty care that is good for people and the planet, has appointed Neiger to the chief sustainability officer role to coincide with National Organic Month in September. The month will involve the company ramping up its commitment to environmental matters.
During National Organic Month, Sky Organics will plant five trees per order made on its website.
Sky Organics is working with Ecologi, a subscription-based carbon offsetting platform, to plant trees in core reforestation sites around the world. The brand has committed to planting one tree per order made on SkyOrganics.com, and the company will plant one tree for every person who signs up for the brand’s newsletter. But for September, those commitments have been strengthened.
Neiger, who recently stepped down from his role as Sky Organics’ chief strategy officer, founded the business alongside his brother, Steven, in 2015. He is now fully dedicating himself to improving the brand’s sustainability efforts, as the climate crisis intensifies.
“I am so proud of all we have built as a company but recognise that we have more work to do in improving our sustainability efforts,” said Neiger.
He added that becoming a more sustainable brand “is no longer a choice, but a responsibility”.
“I want to pour myself into continuing to make ourselves, and the world around us, the best it can be.”
The current CEO of Sky Organics is Eduard Röösli, who assumed the top job last year after arriving a chief transformation officer one year before.
Private equity company Nexus Capital and its partners completed a growth equity investment in the Sky Organics business last year.
“We are extremely excited to begin the next phase of our journey through our partnership with Nexus,” Steven Neiger said at the time.
“It is critical that we have a partner who understands our emphasis-and the consumer’s desire, for natural, limited ingredient products. Our mission is to share these unique creations with the world.”
He added: “Everyone deserves access to clean, sustainable ingredients that are good for both them and the planet.”
