London's Olympia hosts Retail Technology Show

Retail Technology Show: New 2022 event ‘will reunite retailers and innovators’

Registrations are now open for the Retail Technology Show, which is set to take place at London’s Olympia on 26-27 April 2022.

Event organiser Nineteen Group is promising that the two-day retail technology showcase will reunite those working in retail at what its says will be the first large-scale in-person UK gathering for the industry since the pandemic.

More than 170 innovators – from enterprise tech businesses to disruptors and cutting-edge start-ups – will be present, giving the retail audience a chance to experience the latest tech helping to transform their industry. There will also be an extensive conference programme covering the latest issues impacting the sector, with more than 70 speakers set to be confirmed over the coming months.

This year’s Retail Technology Show will feature Start-up Safari curated tours and a Discovery Zone, which the organising team said will provide retailers with a first look at futuristic technologies.

Sustainability and the growing green imperative – from the latest shopper demands to how retailers can build sustainability into their operations – will run throughout the conference, with a dedicated keynote on creating sustainable supply chains taking place on day two.

The topic of sustainability in retail will be covered in several conference presentations, including retailers’ challenges in mitigating the carbon cost of returns, and how the industry can meet the delivery and fulfilment needs of consumers while limiting their impact on the environment.

As well as providing multiple networking opportunities in the dedicated Retailers’ Lounge and at a private lunch hosted by Mastercard, the Retail Technology Show will host a ‘Big Party’ at the Champagne Bar on day one. It will give all attendees the chance to raise a glass with peers, suppliers and industry influencers before the event’s Innovation Awards winners are crowned.

Matt Bradley, event director for the Retail Technology Show, commented: “Retail really is coming home to Olympia – after 1,090 long days since our last retail technology expo in 2019, we can’t wait to open the doors to Retail Technology Show, the new flagship event for retail, in April.”

He added: “With the significant disruption and seismic shifts retail has experienced during the pandemic, never before has an event that showcases the innovation to drive retail businesses forwards been as needed by the industry. As a first opportunity for many to ‘get back to normal’ and enjoy the benefits that only face-to-face networking at large-scale trade events can deliver, we can’t wait to reunite the industry’s retailers and innovators at the 2022 show.”

Tech companies such as Toshiba, WorldPay, SML and Zebra will be on the exhibition floor, which will showcase a plethora of tools and services that can be used to support eCommerce, power payments capability, future-proof supply chains, empower retail workforces, and much more.

The conference programme has been curated following in-depth discussions with the show’s advisory board, which includes leaders from Farfetch, Marks & Spencer, Currys, Morrisons, Charlotte Tilbury and many more.
