EcoVadis and Watershed announce partnership

‘Meaningful, measurable action’: EcoVadis partners with Watershed

Closing the scope 3 data gap is the intention of a new partnership between sustainability standards organisation EcoVadis and emissions measurement company Watershed, which was announced this week.

In a joint statement, the two companies said they will bring their respective unique strengths into a “seamless decarbonisation workflow” for their joint customers. The expected result is enterprises will be able to replace broad averages with actual supplier emissions data, which should give their procurement teams the clarity to make lower-carbon sourcing decisions and track real reductions over time.

Overall, the partnership should help businesses – including several retailers – gain a more accurate, transparent view of supply chain impact, which is needed for a credible path to net zero to unfold.

Essentially, EcoVadis provides the primary data engine and tools for direct supplier reporting, while Watershed is the measurement engine using its sustainability AI to centralise, model, and analyse that data for audit-ready reporting.

Dexter Galvin, senior vice president for climate at EcoVadis, commented: “Unlocking the next generation of scope 3 emissions reduction requires a level of carbon data reliability that has historically been missing from the market.

“By acting as the primary data engine for the industry, EcoVadis provides organisations with the high-quality, supplier-specific data they can trust to move beyond estimates. These new partnerships are a pivotal step in driving meaningful, measurable action and building true climate resilience across the global supply chain.”

David Ban, head of data partnerships at Watershed, remarked: “We’re thrilled to see our customers adopting sophisticated scope 3 measurement tools.

“Our partnership with EcoVadis exemplifies our belief that actionable, accurate, and accessible supplier-specific data is at the core of driving real decarbonisation.”

Last month, two other players in the supply chain decarbonisation space came together, when grocery supplier mapping platform Mondra merged with European player Inoqo to create “a unified powerhouse” in the supply chain decarbonisation space.
