More than 300,000 Too Good To Go Parcels have been distributed since the initiative was launched in the UK 15 months ago.
Surplus food marketplace Too Good To Go and logistics partner, CEVA Logistics, started working together in October 2024, distributing parcels of excess food and goods from participating brands directly to consumers’ homes.
From pantry essentials to sweet and savoury treats, the ‘Parcels’ offering is an extension of the traditional Too Good To Go brand, which connects consumers to would-be waste food bags at stores around the UK.
Too Good To Go Parcels brand partners include Tony’s Chocolonely, Heinz, McVities, Amoy, Jamie Oliver and Alpro. They are working with Too Good To Go to reduce food waste by offering bespoke parcels of surplus tinned or ambient stock that customers can purchase on the marketplace app.
A spokesperson at Tony’s Chocolonely said: “Partnering with Too Good To Go Parcels has given us a powerful, sustainable way to manage our surplus and stay connected with our conscious consumer base.”
Whether its excess stock, packaging changes, or cosmetic imperfections, there are multiple reasons why a brand feels it cannot place its stock on sale in the traditional manner. The parcels option is a way for that company to avoid these items going to waste, while also maintaining some revenue – albeit a lower price point.
The Too Good To Go app now connects over 120 million registered users around the world with brands keen to avoid waste.
Steve Barry, UK senior general manager at CEVA Logistics, commented: “Reaching this milestone is a fantastic achievement and highlights the role efficient, well-designed logistics can play in reducing food waste at scale.”
Sam Kashani, vice president of global operations of Too Good To Go Parcels, said: “Every parcel rescued helps reduce food waste and contributes to a future where good food never goes to waste.
“With more beloved brands joining us every day, our community is making a real impact, tackling food waste and climate change bite by bite, one rescue at a time.”
Too Good To Go Parcels continues to expand across Europe, and it reports that six million-plus parcels have now been distributed globally supported by its partnership with CEVA.
