Slow fashion featuring at Lakeside in October

Re:style Studio: Slow fashion features at Lakeside styling event

Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex is set to host a ‘Re:style Studio’ autumn/winter styling event this weekend, giving consumers a chance to gain fashion advice including tips and guidance on ‘slow fashion’.

The two-day gathering at the retail and entertainment hub will take place on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 October, with the aim of blending the latest fashion trends with eco-friendly practices to inspire shoppers over the next few months.

Workshops over the weekend include colour matching and how to dress for your body shape, as well as sessions providing visitors with the opportunity to learn about slow fashion and how to put upcycling into action.

Guests to Lakeside will have the chance to observe fashion and celebrity stylist, Ellis Ranson, who will be on hand to dish out advice via a series of talks over the course of the two days.

Slow fashion designer, Lydia Bolton, will also be in attendance offering free workshops to help customers make more ethical wardrobe choices. Bolton is planning on leading interactive upcycling workshops where attendees can participate in a patchwork session to refresh old garments or create a unique bag charm.

Shoppers are encouraged to bring their own garments and breathe new life into them during these sessions.

Sustainable podcaster, Bianca Foley, will be educating the audience on topics ranging from autumn/winter trends to building a capsule wardrobe as well as hosting a discussion with Bolton, where insights will be shared such as how consumers can discover “hidden gems” already in their wardrobe.

Other features of the Re:style Studio include mood boarding drop-in sessions, allowing visitors to create their ideal wardrobe using curated materials. One participant will also win a £250 shopping spree at Lakeside, acting as a further incentive for consumers to get involved.

Howard Oldstein, centre director at Lakeside, said the event provided “an opportunity for shoppers to reinvigorate their wardrobe”.

Re:studio is set to run from 11am – 5pm each day.
