Schuh launches Earth Day 2024 campaign

Earth Day 2024: Schuh selling garments made from preloved footwear

Schuh has partnered with reworked clothing business Vintage Threads for Earth Day 2024 (22 April).

In the period leading up to Earth Day 2024, the UK retailer’s London Oxford Street store will be selling special edition garments and other products made from preloved footwear.

A collection of 57 handmade items curated by Vintage Threads will be on offer on a first-come, first-served basis in the capital city flagship shop. Vintage Threads could make old New Balance and Nike items into outwerwear, accessories or homeware – Schuh said the opportunities are endless.

New styles are dropping each day until Earth Day 2024. All money generated from the sales will be donated to the World Land Trust charity.

Schuh chief marketing officer, Stephanie Legg, commented: “The partnership with Vintage Threads underscores our ongoing commitment to social responsibility.

“As we expand our responsible product offering, we are continuing to meet the demands of our conscious consumers, while helping to make more sustainable fashion choices, and through charitable donations to World Land Trust, we’re not only funding the future but actively protecting it.”

The Vintage Threads partnership builds on Schuh’s pre-existing Sell Your Soles scheme, which launched in 2019 allowing customers to exchange preloved, unwanted footwear for money off a new pair.

Schuh, which started mapping its supply chain in more meticulous detail last year supported by softare company Segura, said the Sell Your Soles scheme has already witnessed the donation of more than 24,000 trees to the World Land Trust through 223 tonnes of collected footwear for resale and recycling.
